SNETTERTON TEST REPORT
5th / 6th JULY
It was a productive 48 hours for Team BMW as they completed a two day test at Norfolk’s Snetterton 300 circuit, in preparation for Rounds 16, 17 and 18 at the end of July. Joining them fresh from the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Colin Turkington arrived eager and motivated to get back to work with his much loved BMW 1 Series. Having enjoyed a positive season so far, Colin insisted that a thorough test programme would be the key to success in the second half of the season, and was determined to graft hard.
TEAM WORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK
Along with engineers Kevin Berry and Richard Owen, Colin and the team performed an intensive and elaborate test programme across the three BMW’s. Gifted with dry weather for most of the running, Team BMW were able to complete a full series of tests and left the circuit satisfied with their results.
“I’ve had my mind on this test ever since we finished our analysis at Croft, and it’s fantastic to walk away from it content that we’ve moved the package forwards. The secret to days like this is arriving with a realistic plan and being able to smoothly make your way through it. I’m happy to say that collectively as a team, we completed our programmes and collected some valuable information.
Because we’re working on the overall development of the car, you don’t get much time to work on the chassis balance for this circuit specifically, but all in all it’s an unmissable opportunity to get your eye in and refine your own technique for this track.
The excellence in every department at Team BMW allowed us to arrive, test and depart without any dramas and I’d like to thank all the guys and girls for their continued passion.
I’m escaping for a quick break now to recharge the batteries in anticipation of a pretty busy second half of the season, but I can’t wait to get back to Snetterton in less than three weeks time.”
Colin sits 3rd in the Championship with 5 podiums and 3 wins so far.
The BTCC returns on 29th and 30th July at Snetterton for rounds 16, 17 and 18.
