2016 British Touring Car Championship ready to launch
Excitement is building around the globe as drivers, teams and fans prepare for the start of the 2016 motorsport season. It is easily regarded as one of the busiest times in the motorsport calendar as last minute preparations get squeezed into an already demanding schedule. The work load and detailed preparation going on at Team BMR though would be hard to match.
Having sealed a manufacture deal with Subaru in late 2015, the Buntingford team began the project of building four new Subaru Levorg BTCC race cars. Under no illusion as to the scale of the project, the team understood they had a mammoth task ahead to turn out four cars for the opening rounds at Brands Hatch. With the official Media Day now just days away, the team are on target to have a completed car on show at Donington Park on Tuesday March 22nd.
Media Day will mark Subaru’s arrival to the BTCC with Team BMR launching the stunning Levorg in all its glory. Showcasing its stellar driver line-up alongside the hotly anticipated race car, the new partnership is set to be a ‘game changer’ within the BTCC.
Although the build is running to a tight schedule, it’s certainly one of the most talked about projects in recent times. Expectations of the Levorg’s performance combined with its already strong driver line-up are incredibly high and all the credentials are in place for an ultra competitive package.
Team BMR have been busy in the design office and workshop whilst most rivals have been out testing, however the Subaru team have an extra five test days available to use during the season. With the standard four test days on offer to all teams, the additional days are allocated to teams that have developed a new car.
Fans will therefore have to wait until the first race weekend on April 02nd / 03rd before seeing all four cars and the final 2016 race livery. In the meantime we can stand back, admire and welcome Subaru and the new Levorg to the BTCC.
Photos and videos of the Subaru welcome and Levorg launch day at Donington Park will be online for all to see on Tuesday 22nd March. Check @colinturkington on Twitter, Facebook and on the Website www.colinturkington.com for detailed coverage.
