At a star studded Gala event in the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, Colin was crowned the Autosport National Driver of the Year 2014 to a very supportive and delighted audience.
It was hard to spot anyone that felt he didn’t deserve this title after a year of precision, consistency and sheer excellence in the West Surrey Racing BMW. Turkington managed to finish on the podium at least once at every race meeting and that dominance allowed him to edge out rival Jason Plato by 35 points.
“British Touring Cars is never easy, never straightforward, and it always goes down to the last round,” said Colin after receiving the award from Williams Formula 1 deputy team principal Claire Williams and F1 driver Valtteri Bottas.
“This year was no different – seven champions on the grid, it was more difficult than ever.”
